I have become a list junkie; I read it daily. Quantity doesn't faze me. If my time is limited, I come down hard on the DEL key. In some cases, I know, I may be throwing the baby out with the bath water, but so be it. Quality is what I am looking for, but "quality" is a term I have defined for my own purpose, and it only applies to the material I am searching for. I joined the list, as did many others I'm sure, to find out as much as I could about Parkinsons. I'm still a subscriber for the same reasons. And ultimately, I want to be there when the big break through comes. Some day there will be a post, emblazoned across this list in letters a foot high, saying, "A cure has been found." I want to read it--Man, do I ever! Ninety percent of the posts come from ten percent of the members. That's OK. If that's the way it is, that's the way it is. But I have become knowledgeable about those doing the posting. I know where the good stuff comes from, so I read them first. There is also much to be learned from the interchange following a posting with meat in it. I read everything, save some, copy some, send some on. Surprising how much is useful. If, on the other hand, something has no relevance, Zap, it's gone. I don't post much. I'd like to be more helpful, I would like to reach out across cyber space and give a hand to those in need of one, but, sadly, when I analyse what I have to offer, most times it comes up short of substance. So...If I have nothing of quality to say, I don't say it. I try not to clutter up the list with things of no consequence. Don't get me wrong. If there is therapeutic value in sitting in front of a keyboard pounding out whatever you want and posting it to a couple of dozen countries around the world, I say go for it. I, for one, won't get bent out of shape, and I would hope nobody else will either. The list was just fine, in my book, before it was changed. It is still fine, but it has been narrowed. The chit chat that got discussion going is missing. The facility for a one on one was always there, but the broader option of bouncing things off a half dozen people at the same time without having to explain what started it, was pretty handy. Keep in mind that the list is helping every one who belongs to it, but each person is getting something different. Just belonging, to some, is of great benefit. I say, go back to the old format and let'r roll.
