Jerry...

As scary as it is to know about, it's my understanding that around
35% of all Parkies end up with PD-related dementia or Alzheimer's
itself.

I'd like OT be told this is NOT a PD problem, however, I've seen
several PWP's who have dementia, who think their spouse of many years
is a stranger trying to kidnap the PWP, thinks their adult kids are
policemen trying to arrest them, and more sad stories of that
nature....

That IS dementia - no matter how much we'd rather not be confronted
with this fact.

My mom has had stroke-caused dementia for 10 years and the horror and
emotional pain of it cannot be described.

Subject: MIA - Phillip Lester

>Six weeks ago in Houston, a PWP, 75 year old Phillip

>Stories like this are fairly common around the country.
>What grabbed my attention on this one is that the
>Houston Chronicle article, written by Eric Berger and
>appearing on January 11th, said:
>"Because of his Parkinson's disease family members say
>that although he can remember his name, Lester cannot
>recall his phone number or address."

>I intend to write Mr. Berger and ask that he correct

>it means a loss of cognitive ability.

>And say a prayer for Lester.
