Eleven years ago during chemotherapy, my husband got an extremely bad case of
shingles and much scaring resulted. His shoulder slumped forward and then his
whole back rounded down. His head was also in a more forward position. He
definitely could not stand up straight against the wall. He was diagnosed
with Parkinson's in 1996. We then discovered that at least part of the slump
could be due to the Parkinson's.

I am 5' 3" and he was 5' 8". Now his height varies each day. Sometimes he is
quite a bit taller than I am, and the next time I give him a hug, we are
eyeball to eyeball. I would guess that this height change is 4 to 5 inches
different. It can vary that much even in one day. I assume it has to do with
the posture, but looking at him, it doesn't seem to be all in slumping. He
does daily stretching and arm exercises. Has anyone else noticed this
phenomena, or are we cracking up?

now - age 60 at dx)
