DEB, Insurance companies can be (sometimes) persuaded to pay for a procedure if there is a documented need. Assuming a physician is requesting the scan he/she would need to document that the scan is needed and the information being gathered cannot be gotten by doing a more established procedure and that the information has the potential to alter the treatment outcome. Then when it is rejected keep appealing as high as you can go. But the key to any successful appeal is a physician who will participate in the fight with you documenting the need for the procedure.
