Friends--- the following email is one we sent this morning to the
"Washington Journal" on C-SPAN< when a woman who works on health care
issues was being interviewed.
The email actually appeared, and she commented that it was "an important
question" because many home health agencies were going out of business due
to cutbacks, nursing homes are more expensive, etc. She said Congress will
revisit this issue and "the letter is an example of feedback from
constituents they'll be getting".
This prompts me to suggest that we should indeed let out Congresspeople
know this is a great hardship for many---the example (Clozaril) I used is
only one, and they need to hear from us!
Michael Claes---is PAN working on this?

Recent cutbacks in home care provided under Medicare have created real
hardships for many elderly, home bound persons with chronic illnesses. For
example, certain drugs require regular monitoring of their effects by
means of blood samples. Home care now will not pay for this drawing of
blood by a nurse in the home, and there are also other restrictions which
penalize patients. In its efforts to correct fraud, the government has
apparently over-reacted. What is the status of efforts to correct this
problem?
