On Wed 27/1/99 Nita Andres was requesting the name of the doctor in the UK
that Teresa Seiler wrote about a while back.

My name is Kay Messiter - I live in Sydney, Australia and I am writing this
through a friend's access line to the discussion group. Nita, I too was
interested in Teresa's claim that her husband was responding well to this
product and I contacted him myself - btw, his name is Dr Grinstein and he
sent me some of his formula.

I have had PD for 12 yrs - 33 when the first symptom appeared and 45 now.
My Parkinson's was still fairly well controlled by the meds (500 mg
Sinemet/day) but protein was affecting my meds so much that I was losing an
alarming amount of weight and I had to go straight to bed after eating an
evening protein meal as it would be too uncomfortable to sit up in an "off"
state. I had to take my first medication at 6am to enable the cramps to
disappear before rising at 8am to get the kids ready to drive them to school
(I have an 8 and 10 yr old). My day was becoming shorter and shorter.

The bottom line is THIS STUFF WORKS. I don't know if it works for all PWP's
but it works for me.

It is similar to Sinemet in that you have to play around with the dose until
you discover the balance for you. It can produce some dyskinesia if you
take too much. Also it tastes "DISGUSTING" - BUT if you are prepared to
give it some time and can tolerate the taste it does give good results.

The up side for me is that I don't have to take anything until I get up at
8am (or 9 or 10am on weekends) and within 15-20 minutes I am "ON" with no
cramps, so I am having longer "on" time. I think Kathie Tollifson said that
she still had to watch her protein intake as it still affected the formula -
or as Kathie puts it "snake oil" - but for me I can have a large protein
meal at, say, 7pm - then take another 3/4 tsp of the formula and can quite
comfortably sit up until 11pm or so. Also, before the formula I was having
such terrible nightmares I was beginning to dread going to sleep - now that
I have been able to drop my Sinemet to 300mg/day I sleep peacefully.

I have only taken the substance twice daily as I am trying to save on
airfreight costs which are double what it costs to get it to the USA. I
hope to eventually take it full time. I have been taking the substance for
approx. 8 weeks and do not want to say too much until I see how it works in
the long term however I notice that Kathie says she has been on it for 7
months so that seems like a pretty lengthy trial period and gives me
confidence that it hopefully won't show any nasty side effects in the long
term.

Good luck Nita.

Kind regards

Kay Messiter
