And I thought I was mad! Fortunately I never had to
experience what you did - I'm not that peaceful or generous a person. My
worst experience (besides the bills) was about 3 months ago, right after being
diagnosed. The neuro had finally confirmed park, and the Sinemet had made
me feel human again; for the first time in several years most of my body worked
with a limited amount of pain. However......there was to be a visiting dr
(professor) from WI who is one of the worlds leading experts in movement
disorders and would I mind being a test case for the md's? One small
thing, you have to go off meds. In order to try to help someone else not
have to go through what I did for 6 years, I agreed. On the appointed day,
I showed up in full glory (gory?) Rt leg curled and useless, rt arm
twisted up, hand doing a steady guitar strum....my neuro told me to take a
double dose of Sinemet after the exam so everyone could see how well it
worked. I did...promptly overdosed, blood pressure dropped to nothing, and
then went out of sight. Spent the next 4 hours in emergency room...by the
time a room came available, Sinemet had worn off....received $1000.00 bill for
services....haven't volunteered for anything again.
