Those were not refineries. New Jersey is the home of several major pharmaceutical manufacturers. If you look closely at those storage tanks today, you will notice that they are labeled "sinemet" and "tasmar". You were probably viewing that part of a drug manufacturing complex in which the side effects are added. Phil T.
