Wed, 3 Feb 1999 23:09:14 -0600 Nita Andres <[log in to unmask]> forwarded Judith's letter: Judith wrote in part: >>> I have been walking a tightrope emotionally for the last few weeks. The loss of a friend due to what we believe to be too much manipulation of drugs has taken a great toll on all of us. As for signing off the list, I guess I just snapped. I think we are missing out on a lot of discussions about meds, etc. since the list was reconfigured to reply to sender rather than to the list. It's just easier for people to click "reply." <<< I can understand Judith's reaction. This list is supposed to be a warm and save place to be for PWP. The support PWP need in their struggle with PD that they can't find elsewhere should be given here. I think it's very sad to see that when it really gets difficult (like for Judith now), PWP seem not seek the list anymore as one of their places to find support. In stead they sign off, disappointed. Even PWP must have some self-discipline: I urge you all to stop writing, at least temporarily untill this is a happy PD-list again, about some "hot" topics: f.e.: abortion, religion, politics, homo-hetero, (personal) attacks. And please write in ASCII/plain text because thats taking half of the bandwidth. Also limit yourself in reply-on-reply-on-reply. If we act according these imo simple rules, there will be no reason for strong rules by Barb P., nor for long-time members to leave the list, nor for the creating of a new list by those that are fed up with the aggression on this list. Go back to writing silly things, jokes, poetry, and now and again if necessary about PD, write supportive letters to those that need it, give your solutions to those that ask. Let's all turn the switch back to normal and make this list again to what it used to be: THE list!!!!! Hans.
