I have been having ankle problems for about 3 years. It was diagnosed as
Posterior Tibial Dysfunction. In
my language, that means that the tendons in my ankles are deteriorating. I
have worn a brace, and a "moon boot".
As these did not help, I saw a different orthopaedic specialist. He said
the diagnosis was correct, but he prescribed
a different brace. A few months after I started wearing this, my right
ankle got much worse very quickly, and I could not walk without
excruciating pain. The Dr. ran some kind of an electrical test on my ankle
and said I had Tarpal Tunnel Syndrome (much like Carpal Tunnel Syndrom,
except in the ankle instead of the wrist). I had surgery on the ankle and
went for physical therapy. Both of my ankles are much improved now. I
was fitted for a different type
of orthotic supports which I wear in both of my shoes. I still cannot walk
for exercise like I used to (I used to walk
at the mall before I went to work), but can walk some without pain. If I
do too much walking, I still have pain, but
at least I don't hurt with every step like I did. I do use a walker most
of the time (partially because my balance is
not good due to the Parkinsons, and do use a wheelchair if I go somewhere
that will require a lot of walking (like shopping, etc.) I shop in stores
which furnish the motorized carts for their customers, which helps much.

I hope this gives a little info on some possibilities for what might be the
problem.
