Dear Bob: Ropinerole HCL is the generic name for REQUIP and it is a dopamine agonist. It works by imitating the action of dopamine in the brain. REQUIP can be used alone or as an adjunct therapy with other medications, such as Sinemet. Requip may be prescribed to help improve one's mobility and hopefully will allow for a reduction in the Sinemet dosage. As with any medication there can be side effects, the most frequently reported with Requip are: nausea, dizziness, somnolence (sleepiness), headache and vomiting. Please ask your doctor (and/or pharmacist) for more information on this and ANY of the medications you are taking. Are you familiar with this drug and its pros or cons? I am unable to find anything about it in my immediate references (I was told that it was new). I am interested in side effects and warnings.
