Sue, I read your posting about toe cramping

Im 54 with PD for 15 years This reply comes first hand from a former
toe cramping / foot distorting PD'er

As you well know the pain is extraordinary
the bad part is that NOTHING will help.
warm water, light messaging was only a band aid
quinine and potassium supplements really didn't help

It got worse and worse then it began in both feet then at the same time.
DAMN THAT WAS THE WORST TIME IN MY LIFE.

My meds were working....I had no off's except this and my other symptoms were
completely under control.
We conferred in great detail with my neuro and came to the first step
conclusion that the only chance to "fix" this was a pallidotomy..... (yes,
this was a very radical step)
We went to see the surgeon and his neuro partner.
After various tests and reading the first hand witness report of our NY neuro
I was told that although there was no guarantees "it probably would work"

I choose a left pallid because my right side was so much worse.

bottom line
I had a spasm on the op table
After the op I have never experienced another cramp on either side

Im not suggesting this procedure except as food for thought.....
