Hi, List Members,
Following is a copy of a letter which is being distributed by township
high school students to raise funds for kidney disease research. The
letter can serve as a model and be changed in any way for our purposes,
by anyone who wishes to pursue this on a local level for Parkinson's
research seed money, and to educate people at the same time.. Because
it's being delivered by hand (no postage expense) it should be inserted
in the front door, not the home's mail box. If anyone asks, the NPF
Group Tax Exemption # is 8640 and the Parkinson Alliance is an exempt
organization as a member of this group. NPF has a 501(c)(3) status,
(this info courtesy of Margaret Tuchman)..

Dear Resident,
There is a killer among us. Any of us cn become a victim at any time.
This killer claims more that 50,000 American lives every year. This
killer is kidney disease.
About 20 million Americans are affected by kidney and urologic diseases,
and millions are at risk. The scariest statistic of all, however, may
be that of the 35,000 patients waiting for kidney transplants, only 11,
000 will receive transplants this year because of a shortage of suitable
organ donors.
Finally, you can do something to stop this deadly disease. Together
with MAX 95.7 FM, a popular local radio station, the National Kidney
Foundation of the Delaware Valley will sponsor the MAX 95.7 FM March
Madness School Challenge. The program is designed to educate students
about organ donations and community service through a fun and exciting
competition with other schools.
Our High School is participating in the Challenge. We need all the
support we can get from our community to raise money for the Foundation
and win the grand prize of a school dance with MAX 95.7 FM and a well
known local band.
We are asking you to donate to this charitable cause. Your contribution
will help the National Kidney Foundatiion keep people aware of this
disease and aid them in curing it.
By March 25th, please return the enclosed, self-addressed envelope with
your taxdeductible contribution made payable to The National Kidney
Foundation. We appreciate every dollar you are willing to donate.
Remember, there is a killer out ther. Your generous contribution can
help us put it away for good..
Sincerely,
