Well, my Cecily is off again. She was recovering slowly from her stroke of
last August 7th and on evening a couple of weeks ago I found her on the
bathroom floor very dazed and definitely not with it. Also very weak,
finally called 911 and took her to hospital. All test were OK - not another
stroke. Sent her home 2 days later with a Holter monitor on for 24 hours.
The findings showed a low pulse that went as low as 33 and some pauses so
next week she gets a pacemker. I've wondered about her ups and downs and
both doctors think that the variable pulse could have contributed to the ups
and downs. The ups and downs I am talking about are not the ons and offs of
PD - they have been variation in cognition and speaking.
I hope that this is the last bad luck for this gal - she never utters a word
of complaint or depression - I seem to be the one who is the worry wart.
Incidentally, they asked for her medication schedule which I gave them ( I
even had to supply the Mirapex). The hospital called our MD and asked about
her meds and he told him (her ?) to follow my recommendations as I knew best
what she was taking. Afew hours before taking her home the nurse came
around with her meds and I noticed that she was only getting half the
Mirapex - on investigation I found that the pharmacist had written up her
meds for only half the Mirapex. I am trying to simmer down before writhing
to the hospital managers and venting my spleen.
