I saw my neuro today, and he suggested that I begin thinking about a
pallidotomy - that I was on a fast track for treatment? I've only been
diagnosed for 5 months or so, and the meds seem to be working ok,
especially since Ivan suggested stretching out the Sinemet (Ivan, the neuro
agreed with you on the times). Can anyone suggest why he is pushing to
have the surgery soon? I've had 7 operations in the past 6 years, and I'm
not sure I'm ready for more. Also, where can I find more information on
this procedure? Thanks in advance for your help,

Is your a neuro a movement disorder specialist? Does he specialize and do
alot of surgeries? Does he treat many patients with Parkinson's?

I'd wonder about any dr pushing surgery so early in the diagnosis, esp.
since so many who have had surgeries do warn that it is NOT a cure, only
relieves symptoms and usually still requirees meds although not as many
meds.

If you go to the URL for Jerry Finch's webring<http://www.newcountry.nu/pd>
you should find links to the Hole in the Head Gang, storiees bythose who
have had surgeries. Good luck investigationing All your options, including
finding a mds who is willing to work with finding meds that relieve
symptoms.
