Will, I can see that you love that dog and am glad. It really doesn't cost much to get them trained. They are smart animals. AT the same time you are trained. I had a Sheltie trained for my mother, who was very lonely after my father and then their little poodle died, within a few month of each other. ( My father was so crazy about that dog that I slipped him into the hospital with the collusion of other nurses. The dog fit in a knitting bag and somehow knew not to bark.) I urge you to get that dog trained, you are going to keep him ( don't blame you). However there is another point to this. No one likes to have a dog jump up on them etc. I tell you it is easy to train dogs, they are smart. You must mean it when you say heel, sit etc. Mother's dog just did not do what mother said, but did exactly what I said . It is the tone of voice. Like kids, you don't have to spank them to get them to behave. Dogs are delightful pets and you are hooked on Harvey. I think there might even be books to tell you how. It will be fun for both of you. Nita
