Hi Everyone:
Thanks to our very active Barbara Blake-Krebs in the Eastern KS area
and the folks at the Kansas City Area Support Center, Bill Graves,
Governor of the State of Kansas, signed a proclamation yesterday
designating April as Parkinson's Disease Awareness Month.
There were the maximum of 10 persons (limited by the governor's staff)
in attendance. Seven of the participants traveled an aggregate of
480 miles to be present during the signing.
It was a very short session during which the governor was told of the
reason for the proclamation and the need for medical research funds to
find the cure. He signed the proclamation along with the Secretary of
State and the Assistant Secretary of State.
The governor issued his very best wishes in attaining our goal of finding
a cure for Parkinson's Disease.
Thanks to Rep. David Huff of Overland Park, Kansas who was instrumental
in getting the meeting with the Governor. Also, many thanks go to Dean
Floyd of the Kansas City group for his active participation in the
arrangements and the signing.
Thanks again to Barbara Blake-Krebs who coordinated much of the effort
to get representatives into the signing session.
Best wishes........Jack
