Also ( in Texas ) a hospital must send you all records you request. Even
the entire chart. I have never been the victim of malpractice. You are
correct that a bad outcome is not necessarily due to malpractice ( I
didn't need to tell you that, I know ). I usually do order, by mail, a
copy of my hospital records, to keep my own records. I used to ask for
only the lab work , but the hospitals wanted to send the whole record,
so I take it read it and keep only the lab work. In my case, only the
lab work has been needed. I know lab work changes, but it helps. In my
case, I keep thyroid scans and Echocardiograms. But if these people have
had surgery of any kind it is on that record. The echos and thyroid
scans have been very useful when I need to see another physician. Does
getting the hospital record seem reasonable to you?

When my husband was in practice , he did testify if he thought
malpractice had occurred and I believe most physicians would. Of course,
there are always a few rotten apples, I just have avoided them .

As an Infection Control Nurse I gave depositions for a number of suits,
there was one murky case
but that was all. Just putting in my 1 cent worth. Nita
