Billie, et al....

PLEEEEASE keep in mind that not ALL weight loss or other
Parkinson's-like symptoms can always be attributed to one having
PD!!! I cannot stress this enough.....!

There are lots of non-PD-related diseases and syndromes - most
treatable and controllable IF one goes to the proper medical
specialist - - - and THAT means an MD who's NOT necessarily
specializing in a movement disorder (who're gonna tie in almost
EVERY symptom you exhibit to your having Parkinson's.. After all,
PD is what everyone expects them to identify with and they DO)

A dear friend of mine and a PWP of 18 years lost so much weight
in a coupla months that her usually lovely figure became frail and
gaunt. Her neuro kept readjusting her PD-meds till she decided to
go to an endocanolgist (sp?) who, after running several tests on
her, was able to identify and TREAT Graves Disease.

Today.... just a few short weeks after treatment for the Graves
Disease.... my friend's no longer bothered by extreme, rapid ,
and potentially dangerous weight loss and she looks great....

Please, PLEASE be willing to step outside the "PD box" should any
of you experience symptoms which to your friends and/or family
think may NOT be PD - they just MAY be right!

Janet Paterson
just read your recent post on this subject and you attached one of
your
earlier posts about your appetite being messed up for several
months
where you'd take a couple of bites and lose interest in food. I'm
there
now and am losing weight too fast per dr (have lost about 35 lbs
in last
5 weeks).
What did you do? How did you deal with it? etc.
Also is there some method(s) to mining the archives? I want to
but
haven't been able to find anything. Bottom line, don't know how
and
need help.
