Eldon,

You are correct. TASMAR is a Roche product which is available in the US and
several other countries. TASMAR has received bad publicity recently as a
result of side effects. There were at least three fatal events of
fulminating liver disease.

ENTACAPONE is a similar drug in that it is also a COMT inhibitor.
ENTACAPONE, to be known as COMTESS OR COMTAN if approved and marketed, is
manufactured by Orion Farma of Espoo, Finland.
ENTACAPONE does not appear to cross the blood/brain barrier while TASMAR
apparently does. I have been taking ENTACAPONE as a drug trial participant
since June, 1994. It appears to have done me no harm to date. It is an
effective extender of levodopa, but the same results may be had from use of
the controlled release carbidopa/levodopa products already marketed.

I am confused. There is a posting where someone is calling TASMAR
entacapone. I have Roche Lab's literature and it is listed as tolcapone.
I
am under the impression that entacapone is a different drug not yet
available
in USA.
I use Tasmar and the results are well worth the arm stick every two weeks.
