Billie - I had an EGD a few years ago, and it wasn't at all unpleasant. Did you ask if you'll be awake or under anesthesia? I was given a sedative that acts briefly like a general anesthetic, in that you'll sleep through the procedure. Yet you wake up quickly once it's over. The only side effect I saw was that my memory was affected for the rest of the day. People would call after I got home, I'd talk to them, then immediately forget not only the conversation but the phone call itself. I didn't have any residual effects on my swallowing at all. I don't know if that would be true if you already have a problem with it, but you can ask. Margie Swindler, cg for Dick, 54/17 << Monday am supposed to have some kind of test:esophagogastroduodenoscopy (gad what a name) aka EGD. Looked it up on the web, doesn't sound serious just very unpleasant, The only side effect that bothers me is the affect on swallowing since am already having problems there. Just wondering if any of ya'll have been there and done that? Billie in TX >>
