My mother has been taking 100mg amantadine t.i.d. for the past several months to control jerking motions in her foot. Recently, she began to experience swelling in feet and hands and Tuesday awoke to find the entire left side of her body swollen (face and extremities.) Both her neurologist and family physician told her it was from the amantadine. The neurologist said stay on it and put up with swelling. Her family phys. said stop. Mother stopped amantadine and swelling subsided within 48 hours. Has anyone else had this experience with amantadine? Her EKG and lung tests were normal. Thanks for your feedback. Beth
