Tutu publicity - Kansas City Star - as Letter to Editor Sunday May 2, 1999 One of my several press releases found its way to the Letters section of the newspaper. It appears as the second letter of two letters about Tutu in the upper middle spotlight with a picture of the Archbishop hugging a young pen pal. The first letter chastises a reporter for a choice of words used in a story. My letter is entitled "Parkinson's Prayer. Text follows: << Parkinson's prayer April 8, South Africa's Archbishop Desmond Tutu issued a prayer for all those suffering from Parkinson's Disease to mark World Parkinson's Awareness Month in April and World Parkinson's Day on April 11. April 11 was the birthday of James Parkinson, the English physician who in 1817 was the first to describe the symptoms of PD. In Kansas, Gov. Bill Graves kicked off Parkinson's Awareness Month by signing a proclamation calling on citizens to learn more about this little-understood disease.
