In response to the numerous messages on the problems with pain and
tremor in the jaw, I too have almost continuous shaking with no intense
pain but an irritating symptom, especially duing the night. This problem
has existed for about a year ago which is two years after I was first
diagnosed with PD. Strangely the tremor in my left has almost
disappeared over the same period.
In the same manner as John Knopt, I have sought help from my dentist and
he is looking into the use of a bite guard appliance which is commonly
used by persons suffering from TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT ( TMJ )SYNDROME.
Chewing sugar-free gum I have found to be helpful and an excellent means
to disguise the shaking in public.
Message therapy has also helped, to at least reduce the rigidity in the
jaw muscles. In this regard I should mention that there was an
interesting article in our local newspaper a couple of weeks ago on a
book review entitled MESSAGE: THE ULTIMATE ILLUSTRATED GUIDE by a Clare
Maxwell-Hudson. The publisher is READER',S DIGEST PRESS with ISBN of -
0-8850-670-8. Included in this 168 pages on message at home are some
illustrations on how to relieve pain in the jaw and chin areas.
I have also worked with a Physiotherapist on what is caslled the
ROCABADO'S 6 x 6 PROGRAM which is commonly followed by persons with TMJ
problem.

I look forward to any further feedback on this subject
