Karen - it is the worst PD-related problem I have. From all I have read
(and from my discussions with my neuro and my neurological opthomalogist)
both blurred and double vision are a function of Parkinson's, not Sinemet.
I am on my third set of glasses (in the last two years) with increasingly
strong prisms to control the double vision--both for distance and reading.
It is mostly successful with the distance. Unless I am very tired I can
watch television with the distance glasses and see only one head at a time.
For driving, the prism glasses have also been very successful. But I had
one very bad day last week when I couldn't keep mty eyes open while I was
driving (blephorospasm), saw two of everything and blurring simultaneously.
It was ghastly. I was clearly not "on" in other ways as well. I went home
as fast as my wobbly car could carry me and stayed there until I was totally
"on" and then found that the problem had gone away and was just a terrible
memory. But I will be very careful in the future with the driving. And I
did make another appointment with the neuro eye doctor for next week.

Reading is a different problem. The prism reading glasses are very strong
and require me to hold the book very close. They do not resolve the double
vision and blurring problems if I am at all tired (and we are all tired a
lot!). I used to read 3 or 4 books a week and now it takes me 2-3 weeks to
get through a book -- a chapter at a time. This saddens me a lot. I feel
impoverished.

I hope you find some help-- and hope that others will talk about this
problem too. Neuros seem to pay little attention to it. I had to force a
referral out of my neuro.
