I'm amazed at the number of listmembers who responded! PD affects
vision in several ways, e.g., color and contrast perception, but the
most common seems to be loss of autonomic "convergence". This is
where your depth perception comes from. For both eyes to aim at the
same object, they must turn slightly to an angle that depends on the
object's distance, greater when the object is closer. Normally, your
brain uses this info to let you sense how far the object is. In PD,
control of those "convergence" muscles gets weak and you begin to
see double. More often, say if you are reading, you may find yourself
using only one eye. By conscious refocusing you may compensate for
that, until it becomes a habit like blinking. Exercising the eye
muscles seems to help. Cheers,
