Today at 5:45 am - probably not a big audience. They had a
report on PD.

They said Billy Graham, Janet Reno, and Michael Fox all had
PD. More 60,000 new cases every year.

Now, there is more hope.

Showed on screen: Permax, Nirapex, Requip and Tasmar.

Dr Vithal Dhadek said the newer drugs have fewer side effects. Some
work to make Sinemet work better.

Talked to patient Alonzo Nardella who is feeling better on Mirapex.

If drugs don't work, Thalamotomy is making a comeback. Also Electrode
Implantation was recently approved by the government.

Despite advances there is no miracle cure.

Patient Lenore Schimes had thalamotomy 14 years ago and it didn't
work. Also drugs don't help her.

Reporter was Molly Henneberg who is not a local reporter.
So I think it was a national NBC story. Too bad it was on
while most people were asleep.
