If you break the tablet, you expose two additional surfaces, so the two halves, if taken together will dissolve more quickly than the original tablet. (at a rough guess, about 10%-20% faster. The effect on the PWP is probably contrary to the desired effect, because the object is to release the levodopa at a comtrolled rate. The faster the release rate, the nearer to an overdose or diskynesia conditin.
