Dear List friends, got back from Jacksonville about midnght last night. Have been busy all day with frequent stops on the internet to wade through the many messages. Got through them all with many to answer. I will, I promise but most will have to wait till after the weekend. At this point I just wanted to say hi to all and let you know that I feel I have struck gold! I saw Dr. Jill Marjama at the University of Florida. A lovely young doctor who has a very special way of making one feel at ease and comfortable. For the first time in my search for a movement disorder specialist, I have found one who really understands the disease, especially in my case as a young onset (41). she is a good listener as well as a good explainer (if that is a word) Her recommendations made good sense, her explanations were concise, to the point, and not given at a kindergarden level. she gave me a slight alteration in medication with plenty of room for my own adjustments as I see fit. She also encourages complete communication by telephone with problems, questions, comments, whatever. Mostly, in the case of phone calls I will deal with an equally wonderful person, Bonnie Mylar who is the nurse coordinator. Any questions she is unable to answer will be answered by the doctor but I have found Bonnie to be extremely knowledgeable and totally amiable as well. I just wanted to share with all of you that I am truly elated about my visit and will be returning in August for a followup when our season has wound down. I also enjoyed many of the ongoing conversations while I was gone and wish I could have been jumping in there just for fun. Welcome to all the newcomers. And thanks to all the continuing responses to my previous posts. I will be responding to many of you as soon as possible. Jennifer Smith -- Ars Longa - Vita Brevis Art is Long - Life is short :(:) )
