Glad you're back.  It might help you to know that Dick also experienced some
aphasia for about a month following his pallidal stim three years ago.  It
was frightening when he couldn't remember the name of our son, and called a
lamp a "clock."  However, that was short-lived.  His neurosurgeon told him
the brain would take a year to fully recover from the "insult" of the
surgery, but the first month would be the worst.  He was right on all counts.


You might be interested in knowing that preliminary evidence gathered by the
folks at KU Med who are following all the stimulator surgeries say it appears
that stim patients continue to improve for years afterward.  Dick's symptoms
that the pallidal stim targets did indeed continue to improve for Dick.  He's
now three years post-surgery.
