hi all

i 'pared down' the definitive statements to these:

----------------------------------------------------------
AP REPORT:

1. more than half the patients who received fetal cells had
a significant increase in levels of dopamine...

2. most of the benefits of the operation, including better
motor control, were in patients under 60...

3. many patients were also able to reduce or stop taking
medication...

----------------------------------------------------------
NIH REPORT:

1. more than half of the patients who received the implants
had a greater than 20 percent increase in dopamine activity...

2. the treated patients under age 60 showed significant
improvements in movement...

3. the implants did not reduce the need for any drugs that
patients were taking for Parkinson's disease...

----------------------------------------------------------

the only discrepancy that i can see
is the reference to reducing medication

there are two other 'versions' of the same story
in the media-gang section of the PIEnet pages at:
lynda mckenzie: her fetal cell implant surgery: two press reports

i don't think the study has been published in a medical journal yet
