Your father's comfort should come first. Has he mentioned this to your
mother? Does she still insist on this trip? If so, I don't mean to sound
rude but your mother sounds a little selfish. Is Mom willing to travel with
her two friends and leave Dad home with you?

Hello! It's Ally. You don't hear from me often, but I keep a watch over the
information this list provides. My father is 67, diagnosed this year, and on
no medication...yes, that's right none. He has gotten thin, much slower, he
has bradykinesia, and also suffers from prostrate trouble. He was first
diagnosed with Depression and put on Zoloft which, now that he's off, seemed
to do more harm than good. The neurologist, PD specialist in our area, has
told him he can start drugs now or wait. He recommended waiting because of
the effects and possibility of "wearing off." My father readily agreed. (He
then told him to come back when he feels he needs to.)

Anyway, believe it or not...this isn't the problem. My mother has planned
a...trip across country. From the east coast to the western part of Canada
by
CAR...down the Rockies via train...then to Washington and down the west
coast
and back to the east via car AGAIN. My father is a worrier. I'm sure he
can't
stand the idea. He's also 6'4" and will be sitting in a car 10 hours of the
day. With my dad's prostrate, they'll be stopping every hour or so. I feel
like this will be torture for him. Do you have any suggestions or ideas to
make the trip more comfortable? Do you think I should try (harder) to talk
my
mother out of the idea? Or do you think it may be a good idea to get him out
and moving about?

UG... I just hate to think of him as being in the middle of the country with
2 friends and my mom uncomfortable, worried, and aching for home. Any
advice/suggestions/comments are GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks

Ally
