** New in Parkinson's Disease Research**

"Parkinson's disease shown to aggregate in families"

WESTPORT, Jun 21 (Reuters Health) - A European population-
based study has shown that Parkinson's disease (PD) aggregates
in families and that the strength of the association is age-
dependent. The results are published in the June issue of
Neurology.

Dr. A. Elbaz of Hopital de la Salpetriere in Paris, France,
and colleagues there and elsewhere, reporting on behalf of the
EUROPARKINSON Study Group, explain that previous studies of
familial aggregation of PD have been hospital- or clinic-
based, and may have been subject to selection bias.
