Hi All,
Last week someone posted a Stanford University post on Our World.

It's had me thinking about it all this week. (70% of the world unable
to read???) Could this be true??? Only 1% has a computer (I have
several)

Tonight I went on the www and found these sites....
The UN Cyber School Bus Resource Source at
http://www.un.org/Pubs/CyberSchoolBus/menureso.htm
http://www.popin.org/pop1998/1.htm

The stats posted there are very sobering indeed.

World life expectancy (at birth) in the 1700's was in the 20 -30
year range. By 1950 - 55 it had risen to 46.4 years In 1998 it rose
to 62 years, mainly, but not entirely, due to the decrease in infant
mortality.

Life expectancy in some countries has been severely impacted by AIDS.
In Botswana 1 in every 4 adults has Aids. Life expectancy at birth
is expected to fall from 62 in 1990 to 41 in 2000 - 2005.

World population will reach 6 billion this year and 9 billion by
2050. Sixty per cent of the world pop. increase is contributed by
only 10 countries (21% by India & 15% by China). In 1950 Europe &
N. America accounted for 28.5% of the world population. (now this has
decreased to 17.5% and by 2050 decline to 11%) Currently 2 out
of 5 people live in either China (1,256 million) or India (982
million).

There's more......... I just had to tell somebody.

My eyes are wide open and suddenly PD is a walk in the park.
