me thinks I've started a trip thru unchartered waters, so will have to
sink or swim. it was a very difficult decision to make but someway,
somehow I'm not ready to give up the fight, not now

got to hospital early in order to have some documents notarized. this
didn't take as long as thought it would so got back to day surgery and
was ready to go by 11:15 but wasn't scheduled tul 12:30 but a slot
opened up, dr scurried over and it all began. He had told us the
procedure would take about 30 mins., about an hour in recovery and
probably go home 4 or 5 hrs. later. But it didn't happen that way

he took about an hour to do it, spent about 2 hrs in recovery and at
some time during this he decided they'd keep me overnight. got nestled
in that comfortable(LOL) bed, hooked to IV, morphine every 3 hours and
only ice chips (no water). If you don't mind I'll pass on the morphine.
about 12:45 Tues. got my first dose of Jevity and everything seemed to
be ok.
dr came in about 3:45 took a look at his handiwork and said I don't like
that dimpling so proceded to yank on disc telling me now this might hurt
you're durn tootin it did) then he took the tube and turned it round and
round and said this is what you should do everyday. Then he said he'd
let me come home so got home about 4:45 (didn't tarry after he said I
could go) sore, tired, weak with mucho back pain.
Home Health nurse was out this morning to get ball rolling; gave Bacel
instructions on how to do it and a check list to do everyday,i.e.
weight, temp and blood pressure (today had lost 4 more lbs for a total
of 43 in last 3 mos). She'll be back tomorrow, Friday and Sat. then will
go to every other day for however long insurance will allow. also wants
me to have PT,possibly a wheelchair and evaluation on swallowing
problem.
Alan got a 20 tube and also am on Jevity
4-6 cans per day.
Am very weak and even more unstable on my feet and shuffle along.
Sorry this got so long but so many of you were interested to know how it
went. So far so good, have alittle drainage tonight which haven't had
so will ask nurse tomorrow. Bacel is really trying to take good care
of me and just asap we'll fire up motorhome and head for gulf coast to
scavenge seashore, fish, etc. "nuff for now.
Billie

PS--thanks for being my family and for caring.
