I'm not a lawyer but I would think that he is protected by the Americans with
Disabilities Act.  I believe that as long as he can do his job with reasonable
accommodations by the employer they are obligated to keep him.

Check this out but I think I am right and if he still wants to work he should be
permitted to do that.
