     I have had the same trouble - but not nearly as bad as Jamie.
     I regularly gargle with baking soda in hot water...3x day...I keep it in my mouth for 30 secs.  It helps the cheek and tongue to heal.
     I also take smaller bites and cut all my food into pieces to avoid the biting and chewing at the same time.
