Ray,

Even tho' you said that could probably speak to this subject alot more,
I think that from what you did say about your philosophy, we are
probably in agreement on alot of things. Actually, I think most people
are at a basic level, but everyone's got their own slight twist on
things and their own way of describing it, due to their own perspective
and experience. I think some form of spirituality helps most ofus in
dealing with this pd. It is very important to helping me deal, that's
why I often talk to those related subjects. It's not easy tho' to talk
of these issues and to not upset or offend someone, hard as you may
try.

Like you, there's alot more to what I believe that I don't feel is
appropriate to bring up here. Not only is some of it irrelevant here,
but some of my ideas would be sure to annoy certain groups, particularly
those at either extreme end of the spectrum. But it's kinda funny too
how sometimes I'll get very different reactions from two people who both
read one of my same poems. One may think I've gone overboard with the
religious/God stuff, and yet, another will think I'm heretical and be
praying for my soul. It's kinda funny really, cuz often, neither one is
really right. I don't always agree with every idea that I write, but I
like to throw the ideas out and get people's input cuz that also helps
me to both hone my beliefs and to see places where my personal biases
are, Often my poems may be geared to make a specific point to a
specific group, and to do so, I need to talk their langage, or they'll
just blow it off.

If you go behind the words people use, I think mostly they'd agree.
Sometimes even words can't adequtely relate something to another person
tho'. Supposedly the eskimos have many, many (tens?, hundreds?) of
words for ice, while we have one. To us, that one is good enough, cuz
in our day to day experiences down in the 48 states, that more than
suffices. But to an eskimo living in Alaska, those shades of meaning
between all of their words for ice, could mean life or death, etc.
Perhaps one word might imply very hard ice that's safe to walk on.
Another might imply ice that's a little softer/wet and may not be that
stable to walk on, etc. I think that kinda thing also applies to God.
For some of us, given our situations and experience, one version is
plenty and any more is redundant. For others, for whatever reason, they
want/need to know all the different names there are and what the subtle
differences are also, but not forgetting that these still all are
talking about the same thing, either God or ice.

So anyway, once again I start to ramble. I've gotta go get some stuff
done.
