Re. amandatine(symmetrel).
i have direct contact with parkinson for the last 29 years. when leahy
clinic first
diagnosed parkinson, the only medication offered was symmetrel. my
observation confirmed many times that the most erroneous treatment by the
medical profession is the lack of explanation between the inter relationship
of agonists and inhibitors to sinemet. Professor Birkmayer, the leading
Parkinson specialist in the world, always maintained that proper treatment
of PD necessitates a close explanatory relationship between doctor,
caregiver and patient. Unfortunately too many of our "specialists" fail to
live up to that credence. insist that your doctor explain to you why and how
you should combine agonists and inhibitors with your sinemet and the vast
difference in effectiveness between regular sinemet and sinemet CR when
related to agonists and inhibitors. Many PD's could greatly enhance their
physical well-being through proper experimentation with various combination
of inhibitors and agonists. In my case after 29 years of PD the person is
75% mobile, practically without dyskenesia and functioning. I am glad I
spent so much time with Professor Birkmayer to learn the basic problems of
PD and how to solve them.
