The Happy99.exe virus, when it invades your system, attaches itself to
each and every e-mail that you send out. The sender is often not
aware of such. That is the way that the virus (actually called a
"worm") proliferates.
As with other such nasties, such things can only infect your system if
you *open* the file, and the file is always a *binary* file. Straight e-
mail (plain taxt) cannot transmit a virus.
That is why I, and just about everyone who participates in Lists,
strongly opposes anyone sending *any* attachments to Lists.
Similarly, I will not open *any* attachment unless I know what it is in
advance.
PLEASE, Listmembers, do not send *any* attachments to the List.
