Meyer, M.D. <[log in to unmask]> Aan: [log in to unmask] <[log in to unmask]> Datum: zaterdag 10 juli 1999 20:05 Onderwerp: Re: PMID: silliness two [but important] Hi Charlie and Janet, IMO the "apoptosis" article is saying the following: - PD is not caused by apoptosis of cells in the substantia nigra, but by an INCREASED apoptosis. - a endogenous neurotoxin "B" is found in HIGHER levels in PWP. - "Mediate" means "bringing back to standard/normal values". - "Mediate" doesn't mean that "A" REDUCES the apoptosis induced by "B", because that would mean that eventually apoptosis could be reduced to ZERO. - Conclusion: "A" can bring the INCREASED apoptosis, that is caused by INCREASED levels of "B", back to STANDARD values of apoptosis induced by STANDARD values of "B".
