Have you heard this one?

Shortly after the American Civil War, a passenger train carrying "northern
reconstructionists" home from a convention in Atlanta was passing through
northern Georgia when it was involved in a terrible crash.

A pastor from a local town heard of this tragedy and went out to see if he
could help. He arrived on the scene and surveyed the damage looking for some
one to help. There he encountered a grizzled, ancient ex-confederate soldier
who had been the first upon the scene.

When he inquired about the passengers, the soldier said "Don't worry about
that preacher, I done buried 'em." The pastor asked, "Weren't there any
survivors"? The hoary warrior said "Well some of em said they was, but you
know how bad them Yankees lie."
