i believe that e-mail searches of the archives in toronto
are restricted to listmembers
[but i haven't read that far in the listowner's manual yet!]
if they aren't, i think they should be!

your sister-in-law has a couple of other options:

1. she can search using the PMID number
in the wwweb-ified version of the PIEnet archives in the uk
[see my website under 'pienet/words']
and obtain a copy of the abstract as posted to the list
or
2. she can search using the PMID number
directly at the PubMed website
[see my website under 'pienet/links']
and obtain a copy of the abstract as published
