Dopamine agonists are the new kids on the block and due to patent laws will probably not become available in generic form for another 8 to 9 years. The "Prescription Drug Fairness for Seniors Act" would help lower drug prices for seniors. The bill now has 100 co-sponsors, but has been blocked in the House Ways and Means and Commerce Committees. Congressman Martin Frost (TX) conducted a study and found that "seniors paid an average 97% more than favored customers (federal govt, large HMOs) for the 10 drugs most commonly used by seniors and an average 109% more for the top 5 most commonly used drugs." If the bill passes, pharmacies could purchase prescriptive drugs for Medicare recepients at the same discount price as the federal government and other favored customers. FYI patty
