I guess I look at the "lefty" problem in a slightly different way. There are
some things left handed people can do better than right handed people and
vice versa. I have always liked the approach of standardization and let
everybody adapt. All three of my sons play stringed instruments (Cello,
Violin, Viola). Number two son is left handed and he adapted (his brothers
say right handers have a harder time with strings). Just a brag, my oldest
(the Cellist, a music teacher now) recently had the once in a lifetime
experience of playing in Carnegie Hall. Ever notice there is no such thing
as a left handed string instrument, even in guitars and banjos. Come to
think of it, I've never seen a left handed piano either. Let's don't even
think about left and right handed computers! Now left handed monkey wrenches
are OK! (BTW, there really is such a thing!)
