A number of List members have been asking questions about the new,
"HOT"
release, "The Challenge of Young Parkinson's Disease," which features
me.
In an attempt to answer your questions, here is some basic information.
Today, "Challenge" will be screened at my Portland, Maine, Bob and
Cecily Anibal's Niagara Falls, New York, and Barb Mallut's (Greater Los
Angeles?) PD and YOPD support groups. So far, Barb M. and Hilary Blue
have posted "reviews" on our PD List.
Can anyone on the PD List PLEASE confirm what we believe here in
Portland? We believe that "Challenge" is:
- the world's FIRST solo interview of a PWP that runs for a full
30-minute TV time slot.
"Challenge" also is:
- CONTINUOUS, not cutting away from the studio....and, in the
videotape, the advertisements are edited out,
reducing length from 30 to 26 minutes running time;
- conducted by a PROFESSIONAL public affairs program host;
- was edited for TV broadcast on a United Paramount Network
affiliate;
- has just recently been televised (July 8, 1999, WPME-TV, "Forum
2000" series);
The LENGTH of the "Forum 2000" interview, 26 minutes, allows enough
time to touch on a
number of medical and psychological topics important to persons suffering
from PD. It
cannot by any means cover everything, but it holds your interest, and is
quite up-to-date.
