Hello Dennis. I have attempted to write you off-list, but the mail keeps returning to me. So I'll try this method. Your 'lessons' are so well articulated, and graphic, and describe exactly my own trepidations if I should attempt a trip cross-country this year to attend a class reunion. I've learned of an elderly traveler who was deposited unceremoniously in a Phoenix terminal away from toilets, food and water, while she waited for her connection. The terminal was very cold at Christmastime. When she arrived at her destination the family had to have her hospitalized for hypothermia and exhaustion. From others' experiences as well as your own report, it seems to me there are far too many airline personnel without that commitment to give good care and service while assisting the handicapped passengers. No doubt the best way is to travel with ones caregiver and have an advocate on the spot to prevent abuses and neglect. Dennis, my husband/caregiver would also have to be in a wheelchaiar while traversing an airport/terminal. What do you see as our chances of surviving a trip across the U.S. together? My husband is urging me to make the reservations! I look forward to hearing from you when you have time, Dennis. Clare Wilson
