Nita, I've heard something about that, too. Are you sure it was Iowa,
though, and not Ohio?

A little fun background--
I used to live in Cincinnati, whose governing body was a nine member
elected Council. The Council member who got the most votes got to be
mayor. In the 70's, Jerry was a Councilman. However, he had to resign
when got caught in a police investigation into the motels in Northern KY
which offered special massages. He visited them and paid with a personal
check (now THAT was dumb!). A few years later, he ran for Council again.
Because many people tended to vote for names they recognize, rather than
learning who the candidates were, Jerry received the largest number of
votes in that election. Apparantly, people recognized the name, but didn't
remember why! For awhile, Jerry Springer was mayor of Cincinnati. A few
years later, he set his sights higher and ran for governor of Ohio. That
time, however, his past came along to haunt him, and he lost rather badly.
After that, he gave up politics and went into show biz.

I certainly hope the good people in Ohio haven't forgotten. After all
those years with John Glenn as one of their Senators, it would be downright
embarrassing to have good ole' Jerry in such a position!
