Barb,

Thanks for the try at least to get the "Brass tacks" out to us. Don't you hate
when that happens. Always when you are near finished never at the beginning.

I agree that personal attacks on members of the list are not called for. David
does tend to inflame (and flame) people. I was not aware that he was "banished"
from the list but I certainly can understand the reasons for doing so and might
well have done the same if I were in your position.

The point I am trying to make is outside of that kind activity, I see little
reason for any censorship at all. I think peer pressure is the best way to
limit what the group sees as offensive or out of line. When you or Janet
comment it has to be taken more than casually since you have the ultimate say.
With you I have felt comfortable that you will- as you have done once or twice-
gently reign me in where as Janet tends to come down hard on those that differ
from her especially on concept of the list and cites you as the list mother.

Are we guests in your house or family? Is this our clubhouse with- you holding
the mortgage (having the ultimate say which is rarely acted upon- like major
remodeling)- or your house with us as guests ? I think these questions need to
be answered so that we all know the ground rules. I think of us more as a
family living together in cyberspace. We are not guests. We don't need to hold
our tongues when we see something wrong (within limits). We can say the beer
is warm or the chili is cold without fear of becoming social outcasts.

Sorry to put you in this position but I think the answers will clarify a lot for
many of us.

Charlie
