Yes, I know what the cookie on the computer is. I have never heard it called a "Magic" cookie though. I really think it is more of a "Nosy" cookie. They are used to let various sites know that you have been to their site before. Especially if you have "registration" information. By looking at the cookie, a site will know that you have registered and you can get to areas that "unregistered" users are not allowed. Some sites, which I feel is an unethical practice, will "nose" around to see what all cookies you have on your computer and therefor know what sites you have visited. This is all where you don't know they are doing it. That is why some cookies are encrypted to where these hackers can't get to the information. Another good reason to visit "secure" sites.
